Snack in Paleo Style

Snack breaks are usually the best part of your work or school day because this does not only mean a time out from paperwork, but this also means that we get to fuel up with delicious food and energize our mind and body for the rest of our day. Paleo snacks are an option for all to consider if healthy snacking is on your list. Eating in paleo style may seem too bland or too boring for some if you see the food options as limited instead of what you usually get in your regular snack menu. Then again, if you want to have a healthy snacking regimen and are open to a new palate experience this could be the best option for you.

Healthy Apple Chips

Time to indulge your sweet tooth.

Ingredients:

2 cups unsweetened apple juice
1 cinnamon stick
2 large apples

Preparation:

1. Combine apple juice and cinnamon stick on a large pot and bring to a low boil.

2. Remove top and bottom of apple and slice crosswise to make 1/8 thick chips.

3. Place apples into boiling juice and cook 4-5 minutes or until apples become near translucent.

4. Use the spatula to remove apple slices from juice and place on a clean kitchen towel and pat dry

5. Arrange slices on a cake cooling rack placed on a cookie sheet and place racks on middle shelf in 250 degree oven.

6. Bake 30-40 minutes until apple slices turn golden brown and are almost dry to the touch.

7. Let cool and serve either as is, or with a light dusting of cinnamon.

All-Natural Trail Mix

Store-bought Trail Mix is loaded with tons of sugar – this version, however, eliminates out the bad stuff and leaves you with all the good, satisfying, delicious stuff!

Ingredients:

1 cup raw or roasted almonds
1 cup pumpkin seeds
½ cup sunflower seeds
1 cup blueberries
½ cup raisins

Preparation:

1. Combine all ingredients in an  airtight conainer.

2. Store in a cool, dry place.

Aside from those mentioned above, there are still wide choices of food you may choose from without straying away from a paleo inspired snack. Just remember to eat them in moderation.
